Mashed up down under
February 2nd, 2007
York based Isotama have soft launched a Google maps mash up for STA travel today. Travellers to Australia can plan their trip around the country. You can add your own location ‘pins’ to mark places of interest or browse existing ones that cover categories such as accommodation, eating and sightseeing. The site embeds related content including STA journals, destination guides, forthcoming events and a flight tool. The mashup works well for me, just need to squeeze in a trip sometime!

We created a tool that your readers might interest also. It’s at http://www.aardvarkmap.net and, in short, allows people to create Google Maps with their own markers, that they can either email to friends, post on forums, or embed in their own websites. There’s also data overlays (eg. hotel information) that can be included if the user wants.
