Australian based design agency Reactive have made available a 15 page PDF summarising Web 2.0 and how it relates to the travel and tourism industry. It looks at the following topics: Blogging, Podcasting, Social networking and user generated content, Online video, RSS, Tagging, Mash-ups and Open API’s, Wikis and AJAX.
E-consultancy have published an interview with Marc Charron, TripAdvisor’s European MD. He touches on how the site will develop to make content more relevant to individual users. They have a huge amount of user generated content, it will be intriguing to see how they personalise it.
Travelgator, an online resource for travel planning have launched a new site. The site has information covering over 14,000 destinations, 10,000 attractions and 65,000 hotels. More over at Travelmole.
I read on Travolution this week that Google has added maps and reviews to certain UK travel search results. For example, if you search for ‘Hotel Ritz London‘, not something I do regularly, Google gives you a location map of the hotel, review excerpts and links to full reviews from Tripadvisor, Toptable and Frommers. Commentary from Travolution’s Tricia Holly Davis, who is at the PhoCusWright conference on Google’s plans for their travel search functions.
