Introducing CountryBrands.org

August 22nd, 2008

We’ve just launched CountryBrands.org which aims to be the definitive resource for logo identities.

It’s a little project we’ve wanted to do for a while and found the time in recent weeks.

We’ll build the database up over the coming month and each logo entry will include a downloadable file – we’ll try and find the best quality in each case.

We’re keen for feedback so please let us know what you think.

Country Brands

[UPDATE] Alex Bainbridge has posted a short review about CountryBrands.org on his blog

Very cool – can’t wait to see more logos on there.

Could we see more logos on the page before we have to click to next page? Currently showing four. How about eight?

    Nice idea.

Hi, thanks for the feedback :-)

Good point about the number of logos on the continent pages. Will increase this.

    Cheers,

    Dominic

    Hi Dominic,
    Howabout regional brands too!?
I see your “about” bit says that it will be for destinations…… but to what level will that be?
    Looks nice though.
    Thanks. Alex

    Hi Alex,

    Thanks for dropping by!

For the moment just countries but we’d really like to go deeper and include regional brands. I think we’ll beef up the country brands first, and then, if its proving useful/interesting for visitors, look to expand the depth of the brands.

    Cheers,
    Dominic

    Luchenzo,

We’ve raised the logo count on those pages to 8 now :-)

    Thanks,
    Dominic

Nice idea. Here is my stab at positioning some Countries have:
Tourism, General Knowledge and Positioning: Around the world in 3 Words: Country Spot Light: Vietnam: By Olga Lednichenko

This is my mini-series. We will cover he world. In Israel we read from Right to Left. So, we will cover most nations, from East to West. The title of the post is a bit misleading. It would be better if tourism was replaced by Positioning. But, for now lets stick to that.

Now Close your eyes and shift East. Think Vietnam: What do you see – eyes wide shut?

Can you name those 3 things you see ? Let me guess:

    1. Vietnam War
    2. Rice
    3. Poor. Peace and East

    Cheers
    Olga Lednichenko
PS: I am doing that for the world, as an assignment.. Please viist my blog if you can

  7. Dominic Sawyer Says:

Olga, thanks for dropping by. Hope the assignment is going well, will check out the blog.

    Cheers
    Dominic

    Hi Dominic,

    looks like a nice project.
I wanted to participate instandly, and I googled the German tourism logo, saved it and wanted to submit it via email, but:

550 550 sorry, no mailbox here by that name (#5.1.1) (state 14) submission@countrybrands.org

So maybe you should fix this first! ;-)

  9. Dominic Sawyer Says:

    Hi Nils,

Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to let me know about the problem you encountered. Apologies for that!

It is now fixed, and you can submit any logos.

    Thanks again! :-)

    Dominic
