Five free analytics tools worth checking out

- Google Analytics - set up goals to measure conversion rates or use the Site Overlay tool to see a visual breakdown of visitor paths.
- Woopra - new tool on the block and still in beta. Offers real time visitor analysis and built in chat tool, both of which are not present in Google Analytics.
- Clicktale - more of a recording tool that allows you to record and playback what your site visitors do. Free version allows 100 recordings per week.
- Crazyegg - allows you to see exactly where people click in the form of heatmaps and other visual indicators. A more advanced version of the Site Overlay tool in Google Analytics. Free version allows 4 pages to be tracked with 5,000 visitors per month.
- Enquisite - Focuses on search traffic analysis and provides reports detailing both organic and paid search traffic. Includes in depth LongTail reports.

- Came across online travel site TravelMuse today via a positive review on Techcrunch. From their about page - “TravelMuse combines original editorial content and destination city guides with powerful planning tools.” Try out their Inspiration Finder and read their stance on user generated content over professional content.
- The Tourism Society has set up a Facebook group for discussion/networking.
- The most inaccurate weather forecast in history
- Cities in 3D Program spreads to Europe via Techcrunch UK - This programme now moves to Europe and invites local governments to share 3D data with the public by adding a model of their city to Google Earth. Be interesting to see how well this is taken up, plenty of tourism potential - skip to 2 min 45 secs to view an example of Hamburg and research possibilities for a visitor.
