Processes

Listed below are a number of key systems that we use during the course of a project. We are big on methodology and this gives us the platform to deliver projects.

Basecamp Extranet

Basecamp is at the centre of our communication system. This allows us to manage projects, share files, hold meetings, track data and collaborate in real time on documents.Visit the Basecamp website

Subversion

Subversion ensures that multiple developers can work on a single project, at the same time, without ever being in danger of overwriting each others work. It also acts as a change control system that allows us to access any previous code we have produced. Read more about Subversion

Project Specification

All projects are undertaken by an agreed project specification document that is revised and updated during the lifecycle of a project.

Website development methodology

Our project method is designed to fit into the virtuous development spiral that should accompany the growth of any success digital marketing project and is particularly well suited to the development of websites. This is whereby each project builds on the last and contributes to the betterment of the next.

PHASE 1 - Preproduction

It is the stage during which we work out what it is you want to achieve, and plan how we are going to do it. This is the most important phase of the project. Depending on the nature of the project, spending around 20-30% of time is common. There are clear benefits in spending some time and money up front in proper planning:

  1. Planning will actually speed up the total delivery time
  2. Planning improves overall quality
  3. Planning will save money
  4. Planning will improve long-term prospects

PHASE 2 – Production

This phase is about putting into action the project plan defined in the preproduction phase. The production phase involves the design, programming, testing, and marketing of the site for launch, as well as the subsequent handover to the site maintenance team.

PHASE 3 – Maintenance

Once the site is launched, the work is not over, it has only just begun. The site is then available all the time, all over the world, forever. The site will have to deal with users interacting with the site and the work this implies. Despite the best of preproduction planning, needs and issues arise during the course of ongoing work that must be factored into the project as it evolves.

PHASE 4 – Evaluation

Proper evaluation is crucial in assessing whether you have achieved what you set out to achieve. Effectively measuring the performance of your site will enable you to accurately gauge ROI, and will inform your future decisions and strategy for evolving the site.
